Governing Councils & Chapters

KU's sorority and fraternity community is made up of approximately 47 sororities and fraternities, each affiliated with one of four governing councils. Interfraternity Council (IFC)

Governing board for 26 men's fraternities. 17 of the chapters are housed organizations in which members live in the chapter facilities. Average Chapter Size: 66, Chapter Size Range: 18-105, Total Members: 1700

National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC)

Governing board for the nine largest historically African-American fraternities and sororities. At KU 2 Fraternities and 3 Sororities are represented. Average Chapter Size: 6 members, Chapter Size Range: 3-9 members, Total Members: 34

Multicultural Greek Council (MGC)

 

Governing board of one Latinx fraternity, one Multicultural progressive sorority, and one Asian-American fraternity. 
Average Chapter Size: 15 members, Chapter Size Range: 12-20 members, Total Members: 47

Panhellenic Association (PHA)

Governing board for 13 sororities that hold membership in the National Panhellenic Conference. All 13 sororities are housed and have members live in the chapter facilities. Average Chapter Size: 163, Chapter Size Range: 108-213 Total Members: 2100
